# Zettelkasten Method
Just refers to a system of paper index cards (aka Zettels). Each Zettel has a type, and there are connections between them in a way that allows you to organize and develop your ideas.
| Type | Description | Capture? |

| Literature | These would be like **highlights** when reading something. | exactly how to find it (book, page, paragraph, etc.), comment explaining why you wrote it down or what thought you had to go with it |

| Permanent | These are stand-alone **ideas** that can be formulated without any direct connection to source material. | summary / idea |
| Fleeting | These are like **thoughts** that are unstructured and unorganized. | |
